It's ironic how growing a business can be more stressful than starting one. We often think life gets easier as the business gets bigger, but in truth, growth brings a new set of challenges.
I certainly experienced this as the original founder of skincare brand, Billie Goat Soap. In fact, that's why I completed a PhD researching the unique stressors micro-business owners face.
Today, I work with micro-business owners and sole-traders to help them address the stress that comes with success by using the findings of my PhD to create their future at work where stress is minimised and success is maximised.
I do this three ways:
- Via my On-Call Coaching service. Owning a business can be lonely. Decision making can be hard when you're making them alone. My On-Call Coaching service is a simple one-hour service where you can talk to me about any topic you need to address in your business. There's no long-term coaching contracts, no monthly payment plans and no rigid structure. Just book an hour when you need it.
- Membership to my new program, Addressing the Stress of Success. This is a deep-dive into my PhD findings and is for those micro-business owners who want to be very strategic about growing their business. It's an opportunity to learn how to make clever growth decisions without feeling like you're losing control of the business thanks to its growth trajectory. We look at topics like negotiation skills, power at work, how trust is a great leveller, and boundary management. The program includes personal sessions with me, group training and an online portal full of resources.
- Keynote speaking. I am an engaging and informative speaker who knows how to make topics like workplace mental health, power and small business growth captivating to the audience. I'm comfortable speaking at conferences where hundreds are attending, down to facilitating workshops with a select group. In all instances, audiences leave thinking differently about the way they work and how they can work in the future.
I'm thrilled to be a Wild Fig member because I understand how important connection with others is for good mental health. I work as a soloist and find these meetings, with such wonderful business people, are fabulous for my overall wellbeing.
